Water Cycle is the continuous journey of water from sea to the sky to the land and back to the sea. It is the process by which water circulates on the surface of the earth. Water goes through various forms in nature that is solid (ice), liquid (water) or gas (water vapour). The Sun plays a great role in the water cycle. To give the students of Class-III a practical knowledge of water cycle, a small experiment was conducted. The three states of water, solid, liquid and gas, was shown to children. A lump of ice was placed in a kettle and then it was heated. A little later the ice turned to water. On further heating, it started to boil and water vapour came out of the kettle. A steel plate was placed on the top of the kettle and after some time when it was taken out drops of water was seen on it. Through the experiments, the students were also told about evaporation and precipitation. Then they were asked to connect the whole process to the natural water cycle. It was fun to see the students trying hard to connect. During the experiment, though no clouds were formed, but a lot of discussion centered on cloud formation and the process of condensation. Students enjoyed the activity which was also made more interesting by making them watch the modules. They were then divided into groups and each group was given a chart paper and asked to draw the water cycle and label it. Children eagerly did the activity. In the whole process, they learnt new terms on water cycle and got to know that it is a continuous process. This activity helped in enhancing their naturalistic, inter & intra personal and language skills.
