IIM CASE STUDY

Spectrum Club – Learning by Doing

Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.”Xunzi

Learning by doing has a great impact on the knowledge horizon of students as they get to learn directly through experimentation and observations. This means children know exactly how certain things perform, which helps them in retaining the learning for a longer time.

Light helps us to see things around us. Our Spectrum Club members of Class I learnt about ‘Reflection of Light’, through a hands-on activity during their club classes held on Saturday, September 12, 2020. They learnt the reason behind image reflecting in mirrors. They also demonstrated it with a bowl of water and steel utensils and enjoyed it to the fullest.

During the Club classes held on Saturday, September 19, the members learnt about ‘Air Pressure’. They learnt that when a glass of water is covered with cardboard and it is made upside-down then water does not spill. It is because of air pressure. Children demonstrated it with a glass of water, cardboard and plastic bowl and had a great learning time.
