An activity on Noun Number was conducted for students of Class-III to help them understand the difference between singular and plural nouns as well as enhance their vocabulary skill.
Noun Numbers have two forms, the singular, which tells about one particular person, place, thing or idea, and the plural which speaks of more than one person, place, thing or idea. Usually the singular is the unmarked form of a word, and the plural is obtained by changing the singular.
In Hindi, Noun Numbers are known as ‘Vachan’. Through an activity, the students learnt about the definition and types of Vachan. They were divided into two groups, the first group had word cards where singular words were written, and the second group had cards, where the plural forms of the words were written. The first group was asked to read out the word written in their card and the other group identified the plural form of the word which they had with them. The fun-filled activity helped the students to clear their concept.
