“That’s the thing about books. They let you travel without moving your feet.” – Jhumpa Lahiri
Stories play a vital role in the growth and development of children. The books they read and the characters they get to know can become like friends. It’s also good for children to understand that books are a useful source of information and that good reading skills are important for success in their future lives. Reading also helps children develop confidence.
Children find story books with cartoons more fascinating and interesting. Cartoons are very eye-catching and children simply love those. To develop the students’ confidence, poise and self-esteem, the Ignited Minds Club students of Classes I, II and III debated on their most favorite topic, “Story Books or Cartoons …” What would you prefer? Are cartoons essential for students? Or are they just another distraction towards the individual learning habits. We took a look at the arguments for both the learning tools.
The topic was introduced by sharing a story book and also by showing a glimpse of one of the most favorite Cartoon show, “Chota Bheem”. The members of the Ignited Minds Club got extremely excited and were outstanding in debating. A few spoke in favor of cartoons and few in favor of story books. The debate was engaging, active, learner-centered activity and was highly effective as well as knowledgeable for all the students to develop their critical thinking skills and general awareness. While debating the students of both the groups expressed their views and thoughts very confidently with never ending discussions and also stating that “We Love Both”.
