Big and small are two opposite sides. Children should know how to sort between big and small from an early age. They learn best when it is done through a hands-on experience by describing the objects and helping them to sort it.
The little ones of Playgroup learnt the difference between big and small through an interesting and engaging activity. They were given same objects of different sizes, like two Teddy Bears, one small and one big and two Baskets, one big and one small. The teachers told them the difference between the two Teddy Bears as well as the two Baskets.
After that when they were asked questions to check their comprehension and they could recognise the big ones and small ones by themselves. They enjoyed the class by studying the big and small concept with fun.
While sorting between big and small objects, children also learn the basic mathematical concepts. They get to know about size, their descriptive names and how things can be compared. Such activities help in enhancing the visual, logical and linguistic skills.
