IIM CASE STUDY

Transport and Tracks

“Trains are wonderful…to travel by train is to see nature and human beings, towns and churches and rivers, in fact to see life.” – Agatha Christie

To make our journey easy, smooth and comfortable, we need transportation. The children of KG-II were introduced to the concept of Transportation with the help of discussions, activities and crafts.

They were made aware of different types of land transport which includes cars, buses, cycle rickshaws and also transport and tracks -Trains. Students were introduced to Train as a land transport which requires a track to run on unlike other land transport.

The teacher and the students shared their experience of travelling in trains. The teacher also briefed the students on how trains have changed over the years depending on the necessities of the people, situation and development. They also exchanged ideas on the tracks and how it looks like and what is it made up of.

The class looked lively, each mind brewing with new information and something different from the other. This was followed by a group activity where the children under the guidance of their teachers made train on track using blocks, paints, brushes and chart paper. They painted the block and stamped it on the chart paper. The activity developed their visual, inter-personal skills.
