Touch and texture helps children to get a feel of various things of the world around them. It is through the sense of touch; a child learns to recognize his or her own environment. Texture of different objects was introduced to the children of Play Group through interesting activities. They were exposed to two most basic textures, that is rough and smooth by making them touch different objects. To get the feel of rough texture the children sprinkled sand on a glued paper provided to them and touched it. Similarly, to get a feel of smooth texture, they were given cut outs of a glossy flower to paste in a glued paper. The children felt both the textures with the help of their palms. This activity is an excellent way to fine-tune their motor, visual and naturalistic skills.
