“Mathematics is not about numbers, equations, computations, or algorithms: it is about understanding.” – William Paul Thurston
Teaching early Maths involves much more than just counting and number recognition. Maths is an important part of learning for all children in the early years and receiving a good grounding in Maths is an essential life skill.
As students of KG-I completed numbers 1-50 and number names, they are now prepared for addition which will help them in the next session. So, to start the concept a small activity was conducted.
The students were divided in to three groups. One group was given poster colours and brushes to draw objects on the floor. Another group was asked to draw object on white board and the third group was asked to draw on paper. Then the teacher instructed them to count and write the number by adding one more. Students thoroughly enjoyed the activities. It helped them to enhance their logical, visual, interpersonal and intrapersonal skills.
