Tales Unfold: Reflecting on International Storytelling Week

“Stories can conquer fear, you know. They can make the heart bigger.”Ben Okri

In an endeavor to nurture the love for storytelling among our budding SAIoneers, SAI Angan embarked on an enriching journey during International Storytelling Week. Drawing inspiration from the timeless words of Jimmy Neil Smith, who emphasized the profound connection forged through storytelling, we orchestrated a week-long celebration dedicated to the art of narrative.

KG-I: Embarking on Adventures with “Llama Llama”

Our journey commenced with the enthusiastic learners of KG-I delving into the vibrant narrative of “Llama Llama.” Through immersive storytelling sessions, the children not only embraced the joy of storytelling but also honed their verbal proficiency as they portrayed characters through crafted puppets. This interactive experience not only sparked their imagination but also instilled invaluable lessons about sharing and caring.

KG-II: Peter Pan and the Enchantment of Storytelling

The tiny tots of KG-II were not to be left behind in the celebration of storytelling. Recognizing the significance of storytelling in language development and emotional intelligence, the young SAIoneers delved into the enchanting story of “Peter Pan.” Engaging with a blend of a PowerPoint presentation and props, the children actively participated in role-playing, bringing the tale to life. Craft-making and worksheet activities not only added fun to the week but also left the young minds with a valuable moral lesson – that “good always wins over bad.” The week in KG-II was a delightful journey into the world of narratives, fostering a love for stories and imparting essential life lessons.

Class I: Journey into the World of Narratives

The SAIoneers of Class I were immersed in captivating narratives that sparked their imagination, entertained them, and instilled the art of storytelling. The week not only brought joy but also equipped them with newfound storytelling skills, culminating in the heartfelt and enthusiastic activity of Bucket Filler.

Class II: Exploring the Whimsical World of “Coudroy”

Meanwhile, the little SAIoneers of Class II embarked on an enchanting adventure with “Coudroy,” a lovable bear. With each student taking turns to read aloud with precision and expression, the classroom was brimming with enthusiasm. Following the storytelling session, the students expressed their aspirations and penned down a summary of the tale. Their engagement exemplified the profound impact storytelling has on nurturing creativity and communication skills.

Class III: Voyage to Imaginary Space with “Zathura”

In Class III, our SAIoneers embarked on a thrilling space adventure with “Zathura.” Through an immersive storytelling experience, they not only explored far-off galaxies but also delved into the elements of storytelling through engaging activities. From crafting imaginary space scenes to reflecting on the narrative’s themes, the students showcased their creativity, critical thinking, and storytelling prowess.

Reflecting on the Week

As we reflect on International Storytelling Week, it’s evident that storytelling serves as a powerful tool for fostering imagination, empathy, and communication skills among our SAIoneers. Each class’s unique journey through storytelling not only entertained but also inspired, leaving a lasting impact on their holistic development.

At SAI Angan, we remain committed to nurturing the storytellers of tomorrow, empowering them to share their voices and craft narratives that resonate with hearts and minds.
