IIM CASE STUDY

Storytelling week

“Great stories happen to those who can tell them.” —Ira Glas

Not only children, even elders love to listen to stories. Listening to the story gives us pleasure. To continue having this pleasure we need to encourage our children to write stories of their own. Hence our school arranged a story telling week for Class III children. So throughout the week, our observant learners not only listened to stories but were also encouraged to express themselves through writing activity. For most children, especially visual learners, drawing is much more fun compared to writing. To cater to the needs of the students, this year we introduced the “Storyboarding” idea. A brilliant activity as Storyboarding utilizes a range of skills, including creativity, organizational skills and writing. Not to mention it is a great way to plan your stories out, from beginning to end!

A complete storyboard with all pictures drawn was provided to the children. Looking at the series of pictures the children wrote their own version of the story. They even gave a new twist and a different ending to the story. The children enjoyed the freedom to express their own ideas. They were extremely delighted to be a part of such activity.Experiential learning paves the mind to put imagination to action and we are left with super memorable class.
