Spectrum Club – Properties of Air

“We can’t see air, but without it we are nowhere.”Anonymous

Air is very important for all living beings. We cannot see air but can feel it. The Class II members of Spectrum club learnt various properties of air during their club classes on Saturday, July 18, 2020.

After an in-depth interactive session, the members used balloons, water, transparent glass, tissue paper and transparent containers to conduct an experiment. They concluded that when we blow a balloon, it gets inflated because of air that gets inside it. They understood that air also occupies space inside the glass so tissue paper which was inside the glass did not get wet after going inside the water.

The atmosphere of our Earth is composed of air, which is a mixture of several gases. The main properties of air are it has mass, it exerts pressure and has weight, it can also be compressed. Students thoroughly enjoyed doing the experiments and had great fun when the balloon inflated.
