Spectrum Club – Learning through Experiments

“Experiment, experiment, experiment – until it finally flows from within you. It is a hard road. But the result is also a deep inner satisfaction.” – Jack Dickerson

Acid and Base are two specific types of chemicals. To check whether a substance is acidic or base one can use a litmus paper. The children of Spectrum Club of Class I did the acid – base activity using lemon juice and detergent with the help of turmeric card which acted as an indicator.
Children poured lemon juice on the paper and it didn’t change the colour of the card because lemon juice was an acidic solution whereas when the card came in contact with detergent the turmeric paper turned into reddish brown. It indicates the presence of a basic solution. The kids did the activity and enjoyed the fullest. It was a delightful learning session for the students as they put experiential learning to life.
