The children of KG-II are now at a developmental stage, where new words keep on adding to their vocabulary. Hence it was quite appropriate to plan a lesson on the two new words – Singular and Plural.
Story telling always attracts children and is a brilliant way of learning. It helps to enhance a child’s vocabulary, listening skills and encourages development of emotions and feelings in a child.
The children were told a story weaved around the concept of Singular and Plural. Here the letter ‘S’ was portrayed as greedy who loved to go and stand next to the name of the group of objects which were more in number.
In order to make the topic interesting, the children were given real life objects used by them in the classroom and were asked to place the greedy ‘S’ beside the Plural group of objects. This activity helped in enhancing their fine motor, linguistic and kinesthetic skills.
