The first of its kind e-Summer Camp of SAI International commenced on Monday, June 1, 2020, to raise the spirits of children this summer and engage them in constructive learning activities. For the participants of KG II, the camp began with an engrossing story from the world of puppets during their activity on puppetry. Resource person Steffy Jijo George from Jaipur told them a story of a Monster and the wild animals.
On day 2, they had a music session, where they learnt a wonderful English song and later on sat down to make a dreamcatcher. Sometimes called as ‘Sacred Hoops’, the dream catcher is widely popular even today. Day 3 was more on enhancing their culinary skills. The kids had their hands full in the kitchen during the Master Chef session. From making tri-colour sandwiches as demonstrated by SAIonner Adyasha of Class V to making aam panna and coconut chocolate balls with SAIoneer Ihita of Class VIII. The fun continued with some music, learning a popular English song, ‘Summertime’.
Day 4 started off with some folk dance, which was thoroughly enjoyed by the little ones. They went on to have more fun, learning blow painting with poster colours, paint brush, straws, scale, sketch pens and water. No doubt it was a fun-filled time for the kids. On Day 5, kids learnt to make beautiful birds out of dry grasses and decorated it with paintings of eggs. In the following session, students heard a story about a folktale from Martinique. It was about an old lady, blue bird and a pumpkin.
The plethora of enriching and enlivening activities are thoroughly loved by the students and each of the participants eagerly wait for the activities.
