“For breath is life, and if you breathe well you will live long on Earth” – Sanskrit Proverb
Respiration is an automatic system where the network of organs and tissues help in breathing. It provides energy for carrying out all life processes that are necessary to keep the organisms alive.
Learning becomes joyful and stronger if done through activities. Students of Class III made a model of human Respiratory System during their online classes. The children were informed about the materials required in the previous classes. The materials used were balloons, cardboard, straw, chart paper, glue or cello tape, and a pair of scissors.
They used two balloons to make human lungs and two straws to make the windpipe and nose. The students fixed all on a piece of cardboard or a chart paper. When they blew air in the straw the balloons attached with the straw started to expand, which reciprocated to the shape of lungs when we breathe in and breathe out.
Students also experienced the functions of other parts of the respiratory system like nose and wind pipes. They labeled the different parts of the respiratory system made by them. Children learnt the different organs involved in the respiratory system and how it works. They enjoyed doing this activity in the virtual class to the fullest.
