It is seen that the faster children practice the ability to recognize sounds in words, the faster they learn to read. To develop this ability, students of KG-II were introduced to ‘og’ and ‘od’ sounds through a story telling session with emphasis on these sounds. This was followed by encouraging students to read out the stories with proper rules highlighting the common words. An activity was also conducted where the students were divided into three teams and one student from each team was instructed to run and pick one sound from a bowl containing different alphabets. They were then asked to arrange themselves into one organized word. All the students had a great time during the activity which aimed to enhance their linguistic, logical, kinesthetic and visual skills.
