Paper Crumbling Activity

Children interact with their environment by observing and touching the objects around them. They should be exposed to activities which gives the child perceptual information necessary to efficiently make sense of their environment. Weakness in fine motor skills can affect child’s ability to eat, write legibly, use a computer, turn pages in a book and participate in self care activities such as buttoning a shirt or zippering the pants. The children of KG – I participated in paper crumpling activity where they were provided with pre-cut rectangular papers. Then they squeezed crumpled and crushed the papers to make small paper balls. The activity involves coordinating the action of the eyes and hands together known as eye - hand coordination. Overall it was a fun - filled learning experience where the interpersonal, intra – personal and the fine motor skills of children are developed which helps them to do correct formation of letters and have a better pincer grip.
