“Peace is not the absence of conflict, but the ability to cope with it.”- Mahatma Gandhi
On October 2 each year, India comes together to celebrate the life and legacy of one of the most iconic figures in history, Mahatma Gandhi. Gandhi Jayanti is not just a date on the calendar; it’s a day of reflection, remembrance, and inspiration. It’s a day when the entire nation pays homage to the man who led India to freedom through non-violence and civil disobedience.
At SAI Angan, we believe in instilling the values and teachings of Mahatma Gandhi in our young minds from the very beginning. To commemorate Gandhi Jayanti this year, our KG-II students engaged in a special circle time session. During this interactive session, the children learned about the freedom fighters who played pivotal roles in India’s journey to independence. They also delved into the significance of national holidays, especially Gandhi Jayanti.
But what truly made this day special was the creative craft activity that followed. The students, with enthusiasm in their hearts and smiles on their faces, embarked on crafting none other than Gandhiji himself. Through this hands-on activity, our little ones honed their fine motor skills, allowing them to carefully create every intricate detail of their beloved leader. The activity also promoted kinaesthetic skills as they cut, pasted, and painted with precision.
However, the benefits extended beyond the artistic realm. Engaging in such activities nurtures various 21st-century skills in our young learners. They developed patience, attention to detail, and the ability to follow instructions meticulously – skills that will undoubtedly serve them well in their academic and personal journeys.
As we celebrate Gandhi Jayanti, let us remember the words of the man himself: “You must be the change you want to see in the world.” Our KG-II students are taking their first steps towards being that change by learning about the values of peace, tolerance, and non-violence from the great Mahatma himself.
At SAI Angan, we are committed to fostering not just academic excellence but also nurturing responsible, empathetic, and compassionate individuals who will carry forward the legacy of Mahatma Gandhi. On this auspicious day, we remember him with reverence and take inspiration from his life to shape the leaders of tomorrow. Happy Gandhi Jayanti!
