“Acting is not about being someone different. It’s finding the similarity in what is apparently different, then finding myself in there.” – Meryl Streep
During the Mask Club, the students of Classes I, II and III showcased their talent by acting as some of the famous Historical Characters of India. Children performed as prominent characters such as Mahatma Gandhi, Rani Lakshmi Bai, the famous Birbal, Baji Rout etc. They were not only dressed up as the characters but also did an excellent job by getting into that character using props. They delivered dialogues, facial expressions and body movements like our heroic characters. The little kids also learnt about the background of that particular character and surprised their teachers with what they have learnt from it. They were also shown videos of a few characters to learn the basic elements that are needed to play a character.
The kids learnt values along with facts about acting which made the session more performance-oriented thus ensuring they learn more and grasp better. It was a very interesting session as it allowed students to learn about real-life heroes by getting into their characters, making it a very fruitful session.
