“The creation of something new is not accomplished by the intellect but by the play instinct.” – Carl Jung
Providing children, the opportunity to mix colours with the freedom to independently explore, helps them to learn colours in a better manner. The ability to identify colours are considered a marker and milestone in a child’s cognitive process and is often part of an early screening for development and educational admittance. Recognizing the colours and identifying the colours name is an important part of child’s development.
The students of KG-I were given different poster colours and were asked to mix colours of their choice, to see the magic. While doing the experiment the children were very excited to see new colours, when they mixed two or more colours. Their happiness reflected on their faces and inspired them to experiment more with several other colours.
This activity helped to develop the visual, linguistic and hand-eye coordination skills of the children.
