Learning Mathematics with fun

“Mathematics is not about numbers, equations, computations, or algorithms. It’s about Understanding.” – William Paul Thurston

Mathematics can be fun, if one’s basic knowledge on the subject is clear from the beginning. Multiplication is a short and quick way of replacing repeated addition of the same number. Students of Class II had an excellent experience of learning multiplication tables in an easy way during an activity.

The students were divided into groups of 5 to 6 each. Each group with their team members demonstrated tables by putting the stars together through repeated addition. They were happy to learn that multiplication is nothing but repeated addition. This made multiplication look less drudgery for the students. They all worked in groups and enjoyed a lot with all the colourful stars. Dodging tables were introduced in the class which helped them to solve the sums in a quicker way.
