Children from a very early age are seen to notice different shapes even before they know their names. Learning about shapes is one of the earliest experiences that preschool children are filled with. To solidify their understanding, the Nursery children were introduced to various shapes in an interesting manner. To begin with, a discussion was initiated by the teacher on recognizing shapes of different things which the tiny tots can connect with. This week they learnt about a two-dimensional geometric shape “SQUARE”. Children were divided into two groups and activities like sponge printing, arranging beads on a square shape, jumping on square, lacing on square shaped cardboard, knob puzzles, coloring on square shaped paper and square shaped photo frame were done. These activities help the little children to develop fine motor and gross motor skills.
