“Cleanliness is next to Godliness” – Mahatma Gandhi
The word ‘cleanliness’ not only creates a pristine feeling but also plays a vital role in our daily lives. It is equally important for a healthy body, mind and spirit. Cleanliness is not just about maintaining our own hygiene, but also about keeping the environment clean. It refers to the healthy practice of keeping ourselves and our environment free of dirt, germs, dust, mud, and unwanted matter. Cleanliness is thus as much about hygiene as it is about tidiness. It is also about developing a habit of maintaining a hygienic surrounding free from contamination, pollution that helps in sustaining and improving bodily health and preventing diseases. At SAI Angan, the habit of cleanliness is inculcated in the children from a tender age. Various activities were conducted to teach the children of Nursery on the importance of cleanliness. In one such activity, they were asked to make a ‘hygiene kit’, with the help of various cuts-outs depicting messages on hygiene. They also shared their own experiences on how they keep themselves clean with the help of tooth brush, shampoo, body lotion, soap, comb, towel, hand wash, trimming their nails regularly, etc.
