For the young students of KG I, it is extremely important to identify the numbers, which helps them in the development of other number skills, such as counting. Number sense is important as it encourages students to think flexibly and promotes confidence with numbers.

An activity was conducted for the students of KG I in which they were divided into groups and taken to different tables with number written on the paper plates. Objects like beads, pencils, erasers and crayons were given to them and they sorted out the objects to the given numbers and placed on the paper plates. Dough was also given to the students to make balls related to the given numbers.

Students thoroughly enjoyed the activity. It helped them in recognising and counting of numbers as well as development of logical skills, fine motor skills and eye-hand coordination.
