Importance of Body Parts

Children always look for new information. Their tiny minds are filled with innumerable questions about the world, their surroundings and especially their own bodies. As they grow up they start to recognize that they can run, play, laugh and sing, they also become more curious about their bodies. At this stage, it becomes necessary to teach them about their body parts. Learning about the function of each part of their body, also helps them to gain coordination and motor skills. The Nursery children were taught about basic body parts and their uses. This concept was introduced with the rhyme “Head, shoulder, knees and toes” to create interest among the children. With the help of this rhyme, they were briefed about the function of each part of the body. Flash cards with different body parts were shown to them to relate with their own body parts. A Funny game called “Simon says” was also played. With the help of a hygiene box, they were also briefed on how to maintain the hygiene level of each part of the body. The lesson ended with a small activity where the children were given a picture and asked to identify the missing part in the body, then they were asked to place the correct part in the sheet.
