Ignited Minds Club – Debate on Animal and Zoo

“The greatness of a nation can be judged by the way its animals are treated.”Mahatma Gandhi

A zoo is a place where captive animals are put on display for humans to see. Zoo advocates and conservationists argue that zoos save endangered species and educate the public.

In the Ignited Minds club class held on Saturday, July 18, 2020, the members of Classes I and II debated on the topic, ‘Are zoos beneficial to animals in any ways? Yes or No?’ While debating for or against zoos, the members of the Ignited Minds Club were very interactive and confident.  The debate was mostly against putting animals in zoos. They opined that by bringing people and animals together, zoos educate the public. Whether or not zoos benefit the animal community, they certainly do make benefits to humans in many ways too. As long as there is demand for animals, zoos will continue to exist.

The right way to move forward is to ensure that the animals should be provided with the best possible conditions of living as they get from their own habitat. The enriching debate helped to expand the general awareness as well as critical thinking skills of the members.
