“Junk food satisfies you for a minute. Being fit satisfies you for life.” – Anonymous
It is an age-old war between healthy food and unhealthy food. When it comes to choosing between the two, unhealthy food has always won the race!
Healthy diet can have a profound effect on the health of children, helping them to stabilize their energy and sharpen their mind. It helps in their emotional well-being and in healthy growth and development into adulthood. Students need to be introduced to wholesome, nutritious choices from early years so as to develop a healthy relationship with food that can last a lifetime.
Students of Nursery were taught the difference between the healthy and unhealthy food through some interesting activities. Students got to understand that the delicious and tangy taste of fast food simply adds to their body weight, without catering much to the nutritional needs of the body. They were also thoroughly explained on the benefits of fruits and vegetables.
To make the entire activity more interesting, students were asked to draw healthy and unhealthy food items in their drawing exercise book. The topic was reinforced with the show and tell activity, where students were asked to bring healthy and unhealthy food and speak about it. The whole activity aided in enhancing their interpersonal, intrapersonal, naturalistic, visual and fine motor skills.
