Imagination is a key part in the growth process of a child and drawing is a manifestation of one’s imagination. When a child imagines, he or she is able to form his or her own scenarios and play pretend, thus becoming more independent and advanced.
In one of the Art classes, children of KG-I drew an aeroplane. They followed their teacher’s step by step instructions and filled it with colours. The children first drew the aeroplane body followed by the wings, windows, cockpit and clouds in the sky. They learned to hold the pencil and crayons properly and were able to colour.
Drawing is the medium through which children can easily express their emotions. The activity enhanced their linguistic, visual, fine motor, coordination, inter and intrapersonal skills.
