IIM CASE STUDY

Excelomatics Club – Tangram

“The solution often turns out more beautiful than the puzzle.”- Richard Dawkins

A tangram is a dissection puzzle consisting of a square cut into 7 flat shapes, which can be arranged to form various other shapes like numbers, alphabets or pictures. The objective of the puzzle is to form a specific shape using all 7 pieces which cannot overlap. There are over 6500 different shapes created using the Tangram puzzles.

The Excelomatics Club members learnt to make various shapes using these pieces. While Class II students made a tree, Class III made a cat, horse and a duck. The members were also taught how to draw shapes in a square and colour it to look attractive.

Puzzles are fun-learning games which help kids to improve their thinking by challenging themselves. They are useful educational tools which teach the vital skills of patience, focus, careful thinking and problem solving.
