Environmental Studies: Sources of Food

“Food may be essential as fuel for body, but good food is fuel for the soul”. -Anonymous

Plants and animals are the main source of food for all the organisms on earth. Food obtained from animals is the main source of protein and include fish, milk, meat, poultry, and cheese. Whereas plants provide us with fruits and vegetables, which are an important source of fibers, proteins and carbohydrates.

Today Class  II started with an interesting activity where children were ready with 2 slices of bread, butter, slices of cucumber, carrot, tomato and black pepper powder to prepare a mouth-watering sandwich. They were been explained about the food that we get from plant and animal sources. The children made the sandwich and got to know about the sources of the ingredients that they used to prepare the sandwich. They got to know the difference between both plant and animal sources. They were super excited to frame the differences among the two. The little SAIoneers enjoyed a lot doing the activity. They were thoroughly engaged in this activity-based learning process. Everyone participated with full enthusiasm.
