Diwali, one of the most prominent festival in Hindu culture is celebrated with much fanfare throughout various communities in India. Popularly known as the “Festival of Lights”, it is celebrated by indulging in merry making, lighting diyas, bursting crackers as well as savouring sweet delicacies.
To enhance the knowledge of students about the festival, an activity was conducted for the little ones of KG I. It started with a narration of the Hindu mythological story of Lord Rama’s homecoming to Ayodhya after defeating the King of Lanka. Students heard it with rapt attention showcasing their level of interest to learn about our culture and heritage.
Next, the students participated alongside the teachers in decorating their respective classrooms with Rangoli and diyas. They recited some rhymes on Diwali. A prayer invoking the blessings of Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha was also conducted. It ended with distribution of sweets among the students for creating a festive ambience. All these activities enhanced the visual, linguistic, Inter and Intra personal skills of the students.
