Celebrating Festivals

“Festivals promote diversity, they bring neighbours into dialogue, they increase creativity, they offer opportunities for civic pride, they improve our general psychological well-being. In short, they make cities better places to live.” – David Binder

We all celebrate festivals as they make our life colourful & charming. There are some religious festivals, some are based on seasons & some are of national importance. Festivals are an expressive way to celebrate our glorious heritage, culture & traditions. They are meant to rejoice special moments & togetherness.

Students of Class I learnt about the importance of celebrating festivals through an activity. They learnt different aspects of festivals like national festivals are celebrated all over the country & the religious festivals are celebrated by different people of different religions in India.

During the activity children were divided into groups & were given picture cards of different festivals. Children in each group named, coloured & spoke a few lines on it. Lastly, they pasted them under different headings like religious & national festivals. All students actively participated in the group activity & enjoyed a lot. This interactive teaching- learning process helped the students in developing their naturalistic, linguistic & visual skills.
