Ascending and descending order

“It doesn’t matter if a plane is ascending or descending. A plane always points up. Be a plane my friend.”- Omran Jamal

Arranging things for example numbers, quantities, length etc. from lower value to higher is known as Ascending order. The opposite of Ascending order is Descending order, in which everything is arranged from higher value to lower.

Today Class II children have done one activity related to ‘Ascending and descending order’. Students framed four 3-digits numbers by using 8, 1, 6 and 0. First, they drew four colorful bars from the smallest to the highest in their drawing book. After that, they arranged their own numbers in ascending order and placed them on top of respective bars. Similarly, they did for descending order also.

Our SAIoneers have enjoyed the activity fully with great enthusiasm. They understood the concept nicely and actively participated. They also understood that there are certain real-life scenarios like climbing up the stairs, standing in an assembly line, flight take-off and landing are also related to ascending and descending order.
