Sequencing is the process of combining things in a particular order. It helps students to understand how a series of events unfold from the beginning to the end in a logical order. For the young ones, it is very important to understand the concept as it helps them to recognize or identify the components of an event in order, such as beginning, middle and the end. Students of Class-II learned about sequencing through a fun-filled activity called “Making Lemonade’. Teachers made lemonade in the class and asked the students to observe it carefully in sequential order. The teachers used ingredients like lemon, water, sugar and salt and materials like glass and spoon. They discussed with the students each step while making lemonade like, first, a glass filled with water is needed, next, one table spoon of sugar is added, so on. After that, students were given various other situations of their daily life like ‘Getting ready for school’, ‘Activities at school’, and ‘Sequence sentence on a given topic’. This activity helped the students to understand how sequencing helps to put events or information in specific order like first, next, after that and finally. This helps students to not only deepen their comprehension, but also develops in them the ability to correctly identify how an event unfolds which makes the task of remembering important events easier.
