Ice,when taken out of the freezer it melts down very fast. But its melting down can be slowed down .How?

Today our curious learners of spectrum club showed how melting of ice can be slowed down.To show this experiment they took one tissue paper, kitchen towel ,steel bowl,3 zip lock plastic packets. One ice cube was put in metal bowl and rest of the ice cubes were wrapped with kitchen towels and tissue. What are they observations, now ?

The homeschoolers observed that the ice which was put in a metal bowl started to melt faster as compared to ice wrapped up with plastic and tissue paper. It is due to good and bad conductors of heat.Metals are good conductors of heat that’s why ice melted faster and towel and tissue papers are bad conductors of heat so it did not melt faster .

Through this activity children got first hand clarity about heat and good conductor and insulator.
