Spectrum Club – Paper Marbling

“Art is science made clear.” — Jean Cocteau

Paper Marbling is a method of aqueous surface design, which can produce patterns similar to smooth marble or other kinds of stones. Through several centuries, people have applied marbled materials to a variety of surfaces. The patterns are the result of colour floated on either plain water or a viscous solution known as size, and then carefully transferred to an absorbent surface, such as paper or fabric.

The children of Class II and III experimented on marbled wrapping paper. For this experiment they took materials like paper, shaving cream, spoon and food colours of different shades. Using the spoon, they spread the shaving cream then they added the food colouring on the top. After which they laid the paper on top of the shaving foam and they left it to dry for thirty seconds. At last they took out the paper from the foam. At the end, a beautiful marble gift wrapping paper was ready. The class was filled with interactions and excitement as it was a very engaging and fun activity that the children were amused by. The classes ended on the note of students asking for more fun sessions like these.
