“Radio is such a perfect medium for the transmission of poetry, primarily because there just is the voice, there’s no visual distraction.” – Billy Collins
One of the most prominent festivals in India- Diwali is celebrated with much fanfare throughout various communities in the Indian diaspora. Colloquially known as the “Festival of Lights”, it is a celebration wherein families get together, friends indulge in merry-making, light lamps and diyas as well as gorge on sweet delicacies.
Keeping the spirit of Diwali high, the endearing and highly talented RJs of Class II and III had their performance ready on the topic “My Most Memorable Diwali”. The RJs were not only ready to rock the session with their performance but to keep the festive mood on they were dressed up traditionally. They shared their thoughts on the celebration of Diwali and how they celebrated Diwali this year. The little ones also shared their memories about their best Diwali celebration and the importance of the festival.
While the performances were going on, we could see the happiness in their glittering eyes. Some of them also displayed decorated diyas which added a touch of uniqueness to their performance that is beyond imagination. We were impressed to see how well versed they were about the mythology behind the celebration of Diwali. At the same time, we were also surprised to see how the youngsters were eager to preserve our environment by not bursting crackers, promoting an eco-friendly celebration.
The session was extremely delightful and fun filled as every child got a chance to share their memories, thoughts and ideas and also got to learn a lot from each other’s performances.
