“Acting is behaving truthfully under imaginary circumstances”.- Sanford Meisner
The Classes I, II and III members of Mask Club showcased their acting talent by playing the roles of some eminent historical personalities of India during the Club classes held on Saturday, November 7, 2020. Children performed prominent characters such as Mother Teresa, Bhagat Singh, Chandrasekhar Azad, Chanakya, Veer Surendra Sai, Savitribai Phule, etc.
The children were not only dressed up as the characters but also performed excellently. They delivered dialogues, facial expressions and body movements like our heroes from history. They also learnt about the background of that particular character and surprised their teachers with what they have learnt from it. The eager members were also shown videos of Rani Lakshmi Bai and King Ashoka to help them learn the basic elements that are needed to play a character.
Children also learnt about the values and qualities possessed by the great personalities along with acting which made the session even more enjoyable. Playing the role of important characters has great benefits as it expands minds and improves the ability to think on one’s feet. It also inspires creativity and builds skills of problem solving.
