“The best way of learning about anything is by doing.” – Richard Branson
The Class I members of Spectrum club conducted a fun activity with balloons and coins during their club class held on Saturday, November 7, 2020. The kids wanted to know that when a balloon is bloated and it is empty then it flies away but when a coin is inserted inside it, does it fly? They did this experiment along with teachers and found to their surprise that when a coin is put inside, it does not fly away. They also beautifully decorated the balloon and enjoyed it to the fullest.
The members of Classes II and III learnt about the different forms of water and how they change on cooling and heating. Two experiments were conducted with ice, salt, thread and matchstick. Children knew that ice is the solid form of water and it melts on heating. But when we put salt on ice it melts by lowering the temperature of ice. First, the ice around the string melts when salt is sprinkled over the ice cube and string. The salt water freezes at a lower temperature than pure water, adding the salt makes some ice melt and absorb heat in the process. The area just around it thereby cools and freezes water molecules to the ice cube, also freezing the string on. Children enjoyed doing the ice-fishing experiment.
