“For breath is life, so if you breathe well you will live long on earth.” – Sanskrit Proverb
Respiration is necessary to keep organism alive. It is an automatic system where the network of organs and tissues help in breathing. The Class II and III members of the Spectrum Club of SAI Angan Play School learnt about the respiratory system in plants and human beings during their club activity class held on Saturday, September 19, 2020.
The enthusiastic members did an experiment with plant leaves and made a model of human respiratory system. First the children filled a glass or bowl with water and added one or two plant leaves into that water. After some time they observed some tiny bubbles appearing on the leaves, which showed the respiration of plants through stomata.
Next, the children took two balloons to make human lungs and two straws to make the windpipes. They fixed all on a piece of cardboard and blew air into the balloons. The balloon started to bloat, which showed the respiratory system in human body. From the experiments, the members learnt how respiration takes place in plants and humans.
