Mask Club – Art of Silent Comic

“Comedy has always been more challenging for me than drama.”Kelli Berglund

The Class I, II and III members of the Mask club were exposed to the art of silent comic character during their weekly club classes held on Saturday, September 12, 2020. The members enthusiastically witnessed popular characters enacted by their teachers. It helped the young learners to understand the basic ideas of playing a comic role silently just with the body movements and facial expressions, bringing the character to life.

They were shown some videos to help them understand the basic elements that are needed to play a character. The children also participated and did acting of some famous characters such as Charlie Chaplin, Mr. Bean to name a few.  Kids learnt about facial expression, body movements, the comic timing and about the resources that are required to play the role. Children showed their interest and enthusiasm by immersing themselves into the comic characters and made the session more enjoyable.

Learning drama helps students to enhance their knowledge in a wide array of areas like self-expression, self-confidence, self confidence, communication, collaboration, interpersonal skills, and aesthetic awareness.
