The first of its kind e-Summer Camp of SAI International commenced on Monday, June 1, 2020, to raise the spirits of children this summer and engage them in constructive learning activities. A plethora of interesting activities are designed for the students of Class I which are being thoroughly enjoyed by the kids.
The chain of fun-filled events began with students learning a hindi song, ‘tara ram pam’, simultaneously clapping their hands enthusiastically and in unison. Their creativity also got a boost, learning how to beautify old bottles with acrylic colours and beads, during the session on Best out of Waste.
On the next day, the kids tried their hands at making some delicious food. They made yummy Monaco sandwiches along with two different flavours of lassi, chocolate and rose. The day ended with kids making colourful parrots with palm cut-outs. On day 3, the participants enjoyed learning the step of a folk dance with a beautiful amalgamation of folk music from various parts of the country. After an energetic dance, they settled down to make designer bags out of old T-Shirts and papers, during their session on Best out of Waste.
They continued learning the steps of folk dance on day 4, and also learnt one of the popular songs, ‘dil hai chota sa, choti si asha’. After the musical session, the kids made paper fishes, boat and a bird during the session on origami.
On day 5, the participants made penguin from clay which they found really funny and tried to give their best effort to make it look like a real one. They also had a session on Naturopathy, where the Resource Person spoke about the medicinal effects of turmeric milk, turmeric-honey paste, cumin-black pepper water, tulsi, ginger and honey mix, mustard oil and salt mixture, raw potato paste. She also spoke about how and when to use it.
The e-Summer Camp in Saturday commenced with a short cartoon video highlighting the nutritional value of some common (dancing!!!) fruits. Next the Resource person decked up with a handmade apron and Chef’s cap demonstrated how to make fruit salad. The kids ready with their chef’s cap followed suit, preparing healthy fruit salad, as well as the delicious aam panna. They also had a session on painting, where they leant how to use cello tapes to make line drawing, which was an altogether new experience for them. They made beautiful paintings of nine flowers in nine boxes.
Class I participants started the day 8 of the e-Summer Camp on Monday, June 8, 2020 with Zumba. After an energetic time, they went on to learn table etiquette. The session was divided into two parts, with participants learning the table etiquettes of West and also of India. Next day was all about learning to make toys basing on scientific principles. On June 10, 2020, the participants learnt to sing a patriotic song in hindi, ‘Insaaf ke dagar pe bachodikhaochalke.
