Reading is Fun

“Reading is essential for those who seek to rise above the ordinary.” – Jim Rohn

By providing access to a rich classroom library, teachers promote greater interest in students for reading. It also increases their reading frequency and provide a more diverse reading experiences, thus helping students to attain greater level of reading achievements.

For the students of KG I, a library class is conducted once a week, which is one of their most favourite time. They are briefed about the library rules like importance of maintaining discipline and not disturbing others. During the class, they are made to sit in a circle and each one is given a book to read.

Children enjoy looking at the bright pictures and the short text that accompany it. Gradually they get engrossed in the entire process, turning page after page and trying to connect their classroom learning with the picture and text in the book. They even exchange books with each other to share their joy in discovering some connect with the real-life situation. This library session for students enhances their linguistic, visual, interpersonal and intrapersonal skills.
