IIM CASE STUDY

Motorized and Non-motorized Vehicles

The students of KG II learnt about different types of vehicles like motorized and non-motorized through an interesting activity. Non-motorized transportation is also called human powered transportation, which includes walking, bicycles, cycle rickshaws, skates, skateboards, push scooters and hand carts. To make the concept easy to understand, students were exposed to real wheel barrow, bicycle, trolley, pram etc.

In the process, they learnt that vehicles like car, motorbike, truck, bus, which run with the help of fuel like petrol and diesel and thus are termed as motorized vehicles. In order to make the little ones understand the concept clearly modules on Land transport were shown. Then they were asked to draw one motorized vehicle.

It was followed by making dough wheels which enhanced their visual and fine motor skills.  The real-world applications enable students to think critically and have a meaningful engagement with the subject at hand.
