“Sunshine is delicious, rain is refreshing, wind braces us up, snow is exhilarating; there is really no such thing as bad weather, only different kinds of good weather.” – John Ruskin
Getting caught up in the cycle of living is simple. The work we do, food we eat, places we visit, things we use, all depends upon the cycle of season. Each moment of the year has its own beauty.
The young learners of KG-II were taught the beauty and importance of different seasons and different types of weather through some activities. Leaning becomes all the more interesting outside the confines of the four walls of the classroom.
The enthusiastic learners were taken out to the garden where they could enjoy the rain. They understood the importance of rain which makes the grasses green and the plants grow. They were explained about how rain falls from the clouds present in the sky in the form of water droplets which is called precipitation.
A simple experiment was shown in the classroom to understand the water cycle. To make the activity more interesting they were out in their raincoats and umbrellas to understand the difference between drizzle and heavy rainfall. They were also explained about Rain Gauge which is an instrument used to measure the amount of rainfall of an area. The children were involved to make rainfall and see how the level of water increases during rainfall. They were also told about the work of a meteorologist. This activity helped to enhance their vocabulary, develop their inter and intra personal and naturalistic skills. After enjoying the rain showers, they made paper folding umbrella. This helped in enhancing their fine motor skills.
