“People usually are the happiest at home.”- William Shakesphere
It is said, home is where the heart is. During an activity, students of KG II got to know about various houses that are homes to millions of people. They learnt about the different shapes, sizes, variety of roofs found in different kinds of houses according to the geographical location. Rhymes were sung and audio-visual aids helped them to visualise the different types of houses
The little ones learnt that house on wheels is called a caravan, houses in polar region built with ice blocks is known as igloo, houses built with beams and cement is a pucca house, our fore fathers’ houses in village which is built with mud is a kutcha house. They also learnt that a house in water is called a houseboat. Many of the students could recognize and relate with house boats. Some of the students shared their experience of visiting Kashmir, some on staying in a kuccha house during a visit to their ancestral village, some spoke about staying in apartments and so on.
The theme was made more interesting by conducting an art and craft activity. The students drew hut, made stilt house and igloo where they could understand how the house looked like. This activity helped in developing their brains, enhanced their language skills, naturalistic, fine motor development and inter and intra personal skills.
