“When there is information, there is enlightenment. When there is debate, there are solutions.” – Atifete Jahjaga

Learning the art of debating has many benefits for children. It not only enhances the speaking and listening skills but also builds self-confidence and critical thinking skills. Someone has rightly said “Be a voice, not an echo”.

To help enhance the debating skills of the members of the Ignited Minds Club of Class-I, a debate on the topic “Should we watch TV or read books” was conducted. The members of the Radio Orange Club RJ Samrudhi and RJ Daksha introduced the topic of discussion to the audience with great confidence.

Some students spoke for the topic and some against the topic. Children from both the groups stated their views and thoughts very confidently and finally they concluded that “one book is equal to hundred friends”, so, everyone should develop a habit of reading. Through this debating process many skills like speaking, listening, vocabulary and confidence were enhanced. This also helped the students to overcome stage fear.
