Prepositions are words which show the position of a noun or pronoun with other words in a sentence. To learn this concept well, a few activities were conducted for students of Class I. To start with, some questions were asked to the students about where the things in the class were placed, for example the placement of clock, dustbin, books, and board and so on. The teacher noted the answers on the board and then explained the concept of preposition.
This activity was followed by showing them a video on prepositions where students got to learn various things related to the topic. This was followed by another fun activity using their pencil box. The teacher asked them to keep their pencil box in different positions as per the instruction to help them get a clearer concept on the topic.
This was further followed by a group activity in which the class was divided into 8 groups. An activity sheet with different position pictures was provided to the students. They were asked to colour the apple in different pictures and identify the position and match it with the appropriate preposition. Later on, each group formed sentences according to the picture which the teacher noted on the board. This activity enhanced the linguistics, logical, inter and intra personal skills of the students.
