“Traditions teach children who they are and where they belong.” – Anonymous
The KG II classroom was filled with excitement and vibrant energy as children came together to celebrate Basant Panchami and Republic Day. The atmosphere was joyful as learning, creativity, and cultural awareness blended beautifully into one meaningful experience. To mark Basant Panchami, which welcomes the arrival of spring and honours Goddess Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge and wisdom, the children created a Veena, her symbolic musical instrument. With great enthusiasm, they decorated their artwork using bright colours, expressing creativity, devotion, and imagination through their work.
The activity was further enriched when the children adorned their Veena with tricolour strings. This thoughtful addition helped them understand the connection between knowledge and national pride. Through this creative process, learning became visual, hands-on, and joyful. The students were introduced to the significance of the national colours saffron, white, and green. They learned how these colours represent courage, peace, truth, growth, and prosperity while also symbolising freshness and new beginnings associated with the spring season.
Alongside Basant Panchami, the celebration of Republic Day helped children understand the importance of the day India became a republic. Through simple discussions, they were introduced to values such as equality, unity, respect, and love for the nation, nurturing early awareness of responsible citizenship.
The combined celebration created a rich learning experience that encouraged curiosity, cultural understanding, creativity, and patriotism. It was a day filled with joyful expressions, meaningful learning, and proud moments that helped shape young minds with strong values and positive attitudes.
