Poet, writer, humanitarian and Nobel prize winner Shri Rabindranath Tagore once arranged a ceremony to celebrate Raksha Bandhan to strengthen the bond of love and togetherness between various communities of Bengal. He used the idea of Raksha Bandhan to spread the feeling of brotherhood.
The tiny tots of Play Group had an interesting and playful way of learning with their peers by making Rakhi. They were given colour ribbons, different shapes of paper cut-outs, glue, glitters and stars. Students glued the paper cut-outs one by one on the ribbon with the help of teachers and decorated their rakhi with stars and glitters. They tied the handmade rakhi on each other, fed sweets and showered flowers with love and affection. It was followed by putting “tilak” on each other’s’ forehead and giving gifts and chocolates.
This activity not only helped them to learn how to paste paper with glue but also taught them about sharing and caring. It also helped them to enhance their eye-hand co-ordination, visual, naturalistic, inter and intra personal skills.
